December 2010 Contibutor's Photo Winner!

Marc Newman
Photo of the month was taken by Barb Lawrie while on a bushwalk. Meroglossa (Impressifrons) penetrata working to lever off the
operculum of the flower of Eucalypt infera, a mallee type Eucalypt
endemic only to a small area west of Warwick. Mark has observed and
recorded this bee working to achieve the first access to the flower.
Once again his garden in Ballandean is producing some amazing images and
information. This is unusual behaviour and it is not known how the bee
picks when the flower is ready to be opened."
